Product feature
  1. What size should I choose?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to prevent your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: keep your toenails short and check that your laces stop your foot from sliding to the front of the shoes before you start downhill.
  2. Crosscontact sole
The design of the sole has been carefully researched in our laboratories and the special rubber formula offers the best compromise between grip and traction. The design of the Arpenaz 500 sole gives adhesion rather than traction.Traction: prevents you from slipping on soft ground (muddy or dry). Grip: prevents you from slipping on hard ground (wet or dry).
  3. Purchasing advice
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Start using them gradually during short hikes for your child to wear them in gently.

  • Awesome shoes

    JACQULINE (United Kingdom)
Used for 3 to 6 months
I bought these for my 10 year old who is in a size 5 shoe. I got the 5.5 and it fits him well (as expected) as he has a broad foot. These are his best shoes now and only wants to wear these as they are so comfortable. Big thumbs up.
  • Nearly perfect

    john paul (United Kingdom)
Used for 3 to 6 months
Very comfy from day one. Really good all round hiking shoe and looks like a £100 shoe but the tongue has gaps all down the length so little bits of stone work in to the shoe. Fix this and they would be five star shoes easy
  • The grey is actually Blue

    Dave (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
Ordered the dark grey pair with orange bits and they are not grey, they are more like royal blue with yellow bits. The listing does say they are blue but I was expecting like a grey/blue from the image but trust me its not!
Decathlon have been very helpful through but thought I should warn other buyers.
  • Aug 2015 now looking to replace

    John (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 1 year
I purchased these in Aug 2015 and use for most days that I'm working. I'm a big guy and find most trainers last me around a month or so, not these as I'm still using today, the tred pattern is almost worn through so just about to purchase a second pair, if a beer company made them then they would be classed as probably the best hiking shoes on the planet - for me they are......
    Comfort and Long Lasting
  • Great for Cycling!

    Chris (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I use these primarily as cycling shoes. Despite the obvious lack of a cleat these shoes provide excellent grip and stability on the pedals and are incredibly light and comfortable. Off the bike they are comfortable enough to wear all day, what more can you ask of a shoe?
    Lightweight, comfortable and supportive
Tongue has a tendency to curl at edges!
