    9. Recommended additional product
Care products: waterproofing spray or liquid in the machine To renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
    10. Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed as a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means that the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of nearly a two hour downpour).
    11. Garment waterproofing
This garment has been shower-tested using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
    12. Component with membrane or coating
The coating is like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
    13. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
    14. Fabric breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers. These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
    15. Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua overtrousers benefit from a waterproofing treatment.

I've worn these while climbing Mount Fuji. Perfect item, all you need is to KNOW what you get. Don't expect a radiator, cause it's not. It will not keep you warm, as it's not intended to. Got some rain in Japan plus few high winds and rain in UK, while fishing. I've never been disappointed by these.
As my review targets the product, I have to mention that on the negative side of it the stitching on my product was wrong. Due to this problem, the product ripped apart. I've exchanged it, no problem at all, and thank you Decathlon for that, but I came back to buy the same product and... its price is now higher. As my product was defective, according to the receipt I got, I would expect to get another pair at the same value...
I am not afraid to purchase it again. As a Quality Control Manager I know that the product is fine, only that my pair was stitched wrong.
I would rise the rating if Decathlon could offer me the same price for it, as the initial price paid.
      Thank you.
      Waterproof indeed
