    Product feature
    1. Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: tested in laboratory and actual usage conditions, the shoes are equipped with waterproof and breathable membrane to provide optimal protection from rain. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
    2. 3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
    3. Waterproofing level
The Forclaz 100 Woman's high boot is waterproof for 4000 flexes.
    4. Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes, if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using your boots during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
    5. Which size should I select?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to prevent your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the shoe.
    6. Field test
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our "Missions Tests" put the product manager in contact with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and validate the products.
    7. Laboratory tests
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: Tearing of the eyelets and straps, stitching, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated ageing.
    Product testing

    • Too heavy and hurt my uncle

      Jimena (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
When I tried these shoes on the shop they felt very comfortable. I used them to commute every day for about 3 weeks before I started the hiking.
Unfortunately after my first day of hiking both shoes felt too tight and I could not lace them up any more as it was too uncomfortable. The left shoe was worse as it hurt my big toe nail (it got bruised) and my ankle got swollen.
The hike was only 5 days and I did about 5 hours each day.
      too heavy and unconfortable
      Response of the brand
Hi, Sorry to hear about your experience with the Forclaz 100 hiking boot, I hope you still enjoyed your hike. Please drop back in store as I am sure we can find a more suitable boot for you. From personal experience, on mid to long distance multi-day hikes feet can swell by an extra size causing discomfort should the boot be slightly too small. It took me a while before I could determine whether this was the case or not however I now always go a half size larger for such expeditions. I hope this helps and thanks for your feedback, Chris.
